Yes, it's biased; yes, the articles are long; but these are the kinds of writing students at the upper skill levels in high school need to be reading.
The Economist
Here's a publication with the opposite political slant. Again the writing and argumentation is clear and logical, so check it out. The Media Center has an account, so if you want to access the back issues, go talk to Mr. Martinson.
The New Yorker
Ok, Ok, yes there is a definite political slant to the current events coverage in this publication, but the forms of arguments and uses of rhetorical strategies are fluid and nuanced. The selections of fiction and poetry are great too!
