Grades 5-6 Physical Education Program
Our goal in 5th and 6th grade physical education is to improve upon the individual skills that we learn and work on in 3rd and 4th grade and incorporate them into partner and team games
Students in 5th and 6th grade participate in the Presidential Fitness Challenge. Students complete 5 fitness tests in the fall and then again in the spring. Their spring scores are compared to students of the same age from around the country. These scores help us determine if a student is eligible for a National or Presidential Fitness Award. Students are encouraged to improve from one testing period to the next, and the only way they will accomplish that is by consistent physical activity
Here are links to some interesting web sites (please be patient, it is still under construction):
Students must wear soft -soled shoes with ties
or velcro straps and flat soles to participate in physical education
class (please no slip-ons, boots or sandals).
If your child needs to be excused from an activity for one class period, please send a note to the physical education teacher.
If your child's activity level needs to be
restricted or limited please send a note to the nurse's office. Excuses
for more than one week require a doctor's statement.
