The Latest News

Our Evacuation Drill will be on Wednesday (5/22) at 2:45.

The Puberty talk will be on Thursday of next week (5/23). We follow the district guidelines and stick to the script. Your child may be coming home next Thursday though with questions. Sometimes they have questions that aren't a part of our curriculum and we direct them to ask their families.

Our annual Field Day for fifth grade will be on Tuesday, May 28 from about 9:45-11:45. Hopefully the weather will cooperate! Feel free to come and watch!

The Ellis Island simulation is Thursday, May 30 from 2:15-3:45.

The May Novel Study is due on May 31. They chose their own books to read but I encouraged them to try to read an adventure book for this month. The assignment sheet is posted on this webpage.

On June 5 the 4-6th grades are involved in an Awards Ceremony from 2:30-3:30. Awards for patrols, Math Masters, FPS, Continental Math League, etc. are handed out to the kids. Feel free to join us!

Language Arts

In Guided Reading we are learning about point of view and using text to support it. This is a reading standard for fifth grade. We are also learning about Making Inferences in our Daybook.

Math

Assignments in Math are given almost daily. Every student has a workbook, notebook and folder. Sometimes the assignments are in the workbook or sometimes they will receive a worksheet or both.

We are currently working on Algebra concepts and integers.
